In the market for an X5...need advice

Well i'm seriously looking for an X5 now.
Looking to get a 02/03 4.4i or 4.6is.

I'd really love a 4.6is, but its quite hard to find and sometimes the prices are still high.

What's the pros and cons of either models? Advice on what to look for?

thanks
franklin

The pro's? Your gonna love the experience.

The cons? Sometime you gotta fix em. Get a warranty ;)

Would consider a 4.4i from 2004? Maybe this will change your mind.

wow the Pano roof is nice...i'll look around to see how the pricing will work with my budget.

As for extended warranty...what do you guys use?

I was looking at one on ebay, and it supposedly comes with a 4yr extended warranty thru Penn Warranty (any good???)

thanks

Get it from BMW if you can. Watch out for warranties that are not accepted at ALL BMW dealerships. Jus do a search for Warranties. Lots of discussions all ready posted

well i'm still in my search...guess i'm just very picky...
Did some reading on the forum and the web, and seems the 04s came with some changes.
Found a thread here that says the 05s were different, just want to make sure the 04 also had the changes.
315hp and 6spd tranny in the 4.4?
Is this a good deal? 2004 4.4i with 53k miles for $32k (no pano roof)
or
2002 4.6is with 55k miles for $30k

thanks

I would go 4.6is but i'm biased. It's a little more exclusive an not as many around. I would look for a 2003 though, it has the DVD navigation. Good Luck.

Definitely, 4.6is is the choice! I have got one when I was looking and comparing and I have no regrets. The power and dynamics is totally different from 4.4i. But this is my subjective thinking. Either way, you are gonna love and the experience and turn to be a bimmerhead, as I have become.

haha...too late...been a bimmerhead since 96...which is why i'm trying to stick to a BMW now...actually considered the Cayenne S...but i think the 4.6is is the way to go if i can find a good one soon.

thanks

Franklin-

Are you having any luck finding a 4.6is? I've been looking for a few months now and ran across a few (that sold immediately) and one that I pulled the trigger on but found out the vehicle wasn't as nice as they stated. Where are you from and did you find one yet???

My search is still on & I'm not about to give up on a 4.6! :-)

Lance
