Wow, what a bummer but good that you found it. At least it's somewhat easy to replace/fix.

I recall rats getting into the engine bay of an old Mercedes 280E that my parents used to own. Bastards would hang out in there during the winter to get warm. In addition to chewing spark plug wires, those damn rodents would hoard dog food from our family pet in the spark plug holes on top of the engine! A real mess all around. Dooohhhh! :mad:

Update: could it have been a squirrel? not a rat

because i got lots of traps out for a few days, poison, haven't caught a rat yet.
but
included with all the traps i got, they sent me couple squirrel traps too since i wanted them as well
there's been this squirrel which last couple months each morning would come to our outdoor swing and start chewing on it, and taking out the foam filling.
now it makes me wonder, could it have been the squirrel that got in the engine and ate the foam and wires, since it's hair is same color as the damn rat too.
btw i've owned 2 squirrels in 2 days in these traps lol
thing that sucks, you have to drive at least 5 miles and let them go, so they can't find their way back to you lol
now i'm still trying to catch a rat
it's kinda funny by now, my engine cover will always always bring a smile

ya lol it's a cage trap, so once they get in door closes behind them and they are stuck in the cage, have to take them for a ride lol to let them go in the wild again heh
