Ok, I've tested this today :)))))
1. As AzNMpower32 said, the tests are completely independent of the on-board computer. This means the tests only use the upper line, where usually is shown the overall kilometers done (left side) and the personal kilometers counter on the right side. 2. To access the items 3-18, one has to go to menu 19 all the time. The 19+off option is not saved. In other words, everytime you want to go to e.g. menu 4, you'll have to do: - press-hold reset - turn key to 1 - press (but never hold) reset several times until 19 is shown on the right side - wait to see "off" - press reset - quickly press reset again to move away from menu "0", and many times to select menu e.g. 4 - then reset will move from 4's menu sub-options (4.0, 4.1, etc). - some menus have only one option (e.g. 2 and 13), where reset will turn the dashboard on (2) or ring the beep (13) - to leave the menu, one has to turn the key off - to enter other menu, one has to repeat this all, including the 19's menu. Haven't seen the "instant fuel consumption" working (the car is stopped), but I think it's gonna be an interesting option to keep on during the next trip :) Thank you all for this additional menu! (PS: besides the navigation hidden menu (for perspective mode) and this OBC, is there any other easter egg on our X3/E46/similar cars???) |

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v3...t=CIMG2951.flv As you can see, getting the vehicle moving requires a LOT of energy. The numbers are in liters/100km, where "425"= 42.5 l/100km. Very cool stuff (especailly since I dont have the analog gauge like you X5 folks), but it can be very distracting in normal driving, so um, yea don't get carried away. As a correction, to above post, if you want to exit a particular submenu, just hold the 'reset' button until it shows "test". At this point, you can toggle to another menu, or if you want to go back to the standard odometer/trip readout, continue holding the 'reset' button until the display goes back to normal. |

On the other hand, yesterday I've tested the instant fuel consumption. In one trip, I've used the litres/km (menu 4.0), and on the way back tried the litres/hour (4.1). Driving through the city in a stop-and-go manner makes both values jump too much to have any meaning, so I've learned nothing about the real consumption on this trip. :( The good news is that the counter never ever went above 300 (30.0 litres :) ) in both menus, meaning (hopefully) that the 2.0D engine never drinks more than 30 litres. When the engine is running but the car is still, the per 100KM menu show 30.0 litres (30/0=100, good math BMW). On the litres/hour, it shows half a litre :))) |

Thanks boys, very usefull all these.
Is anyone know how to make the indicator of the seatbelt to stay on, untill i am fasting the seat belt. In my car this indicator stay on for a few seconds after i starting the engine, and then turn off without fasting my seatbelt. Also this fuction has a beeper in X3. Me car is an X3 3.0 '04. Thanks again |

Strong words of advice here - DON'T DO IT ! I don't usually type in CAPS LOCK but bottom line is I have read nothing anywhere that tells you what this does other than sensible advice to avoid Test NR-21. Mentioning this to avoid expensive mistake. ************************************************** ** for info I have posted re these tests before and specifically re the DIAG codes. More below : http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...h-display.html & from another site more posting from me http://www.bmwland.co.uk/talker/view...106&highlight= Still keeen to see a definitive list of E53 hex code (will vary depending on engine type) |
