Yeah I really dont know what it is?? I'll start another thread to see if any of the experts know!

It looks like a realy big capacitor. One way to find out is to disconnect it and see what stops working. I would be real careful if it is a capacitor. It will probably have enough juice to straightenl your short hairs.
