BMW Extended Warrant and Maintenance - NEW PRICING

I have read the posts regarding the extended warranty and maintenance agreements and have a few questions.

I have a 2004 4.4is X5 and am nearing 50K. I contacted the dealer for the price on the extended warranty and maintenance. They gave me what seemed to be a fairly high figure and then after I explained I new the pricing because it was posted online they lowered the figure slightly.

The figure they are offering right now is $1200 for the BMW maintenance agreement good until April 2010 or 100K. $3800 for the BMW warranty good until April 2010 or 100K.

They commented that the price had just gone up (of course it did) and the $3800 was the new price on the BMW warranty. They said if someone was getting quoted $2500 on the service warranty it was most lilely a non-BMW warranty.

Anyone else know any current pricing figures on these plans or actually secured lower pricing?

Can't comment on the extended warranty but a local dealership was quoting $1,331 for extended maintenance warranty this weekend. I wasn't really looking so I didn't negotiate further.

I myself am looking into both the Extended Warranty and the Maintenance Warranty. I would like to know as well if anyone in the forum have any leads to this...

Thanks in advance...

Many people speak highly of Crevier BMW for parts - you could shoot their parts manager an e-mail

I purchased the extended warrenty for $3000. I am very satasfied with it because they have fixed over 13K worth of stuff including a new tranny! I do recommend it. I have an 01 that has had many problems but have been corrected with the extened warrenty. I do recommend reading the fine print though.

Here's information from the front of the X5World home page:

BMW Extended Warranty Plan
BMW Maintenance Plan Upgrades

I don't know these to be out of date, but somebody might know otherwise.

warranty

I am in the same boat with a 2004 4.4 with 47,000 miles on it. I just emailed Burdick BMW and they sell the extended maintenance for $1195. I assume that this covers oil changes, etc but nothing serious. Since I am forced to keep this car for several more years (section 179 purchase) I will ask about the extended warranty.

The MSRP of either Maintenance or Warranty, may have gone up...
no idea, but one or both are possible and probable.

Some Stlrs will quote MSRP, some quote even higher than MSRP, some
give a better price, on either "product".

Since few/none of us here are wired to or, work at a Stlr, and the
best info available is going to vary from local dlr to local dlr, my
advice is to call around in your area for price quotes on either
ext Maint and/or ext Warr.

For awhile, back when these add on prods. first became available,
BMW NA was promoting that only a "local dlr ' could sell one to
any given customer, so that the mileage, (read: "key read"), could
be done...that has not proven to be always enforced, so one may
be able to buy one of these coverages via phone or net, but YMMV.

Remember:
"Maint" is for brake pads/rotors, oil changes, etc.
"Warr" is for warranty items, non-wear/non-maintenance.

And, the BMW ext Warr. is identical to CPO, in terms of things
covered. 2yrs or the mileage limit: whichever pops up first on
your situ. But, you can't "cpo" your own current car.

Make some calls, let the board know, what you found out...if I knew anymore I would post it.
This topic is coming up on the old jukebox daily, as our cars "age".
