Rubber door molding replacement
The rubber molding on my rear door on the driver's side is torn all to pieces. Looks like the previous owner had a dor that wasn't able to jump all the way in, don't know. Anywy, I need to replace it an wondered if was DIY of shop work.
Thanks, Bob |
Mine is like that too.. And am wondering if it is covered under factory warrenty.

My 2002 X5 is out of factory warranty. I have an extended warranty but I really doubt it would be covered. Should find out next week.
Thanks, Bob |

Morristown BMW can sells the replacements for fairly cheap. I don't remember the prices, so you'll need to contact them.

Is this the rubber under the door?
It iced here and my door got stuck so I pushed it open and it ripped the rubber on the bottom of my door. Now it is going to rain tomorrow. I hope my car doesn't flood. |

Mine got shredded on the driver's side, also. X5 less than 1 year old, and I am virtually the only driver. I am not fat, and don't knowingly rub against the gasket when I get in or out of the car. I still can't figure out how this happened. Happily, the dealership replaced it without a second thought. Must have been a stocked item, because I had it in for other work, and mentioned it at drop off. It was fixed when I picked it up a few hours later.
