My 2002 X5 is out of factory warranty. I have an extended warranty but I really doubt it would be covered. Should find out next week.
Thanks,
Bob

What did you find out? I have this problem too only it was my elderly dog who thought he was still young. He's gone now so it's time to fix it.
Thanks!

Morristown BMW can sells the replacements for fairly cheap. I don't remember the prices, so you'll need to contact them.

Is this the rubber under the door?

It iced here and my door got stuck so I pushed it open and it ripped the rubber on the bottom of my door.
Now it is going to rain tomorrow. I hope my car doesn't flood.

Mine has been ripped to shreds for a while now both on the side and the bottom and it has been through rain and snow with no problems. You should be ok.

Mine got shredded on the driver's side, also. X5 less than 1 year old, and I am virtually the only driver. I am not fat, and don't knowingly rub against the gasket when I get in or out of the car. I still can't figure out how this happened. Happily, the dealership replaced it without a second thought. Must have been a stocked item, because I had it in for other work, and mentioned it at drop off. It was fixed when I picked it up a few hours later.
