They were also instructed not to tell any customers unless they asked about it after it was done. Not believing this i searched for answers from BMW NA, Various Tuners friends with M3s and on M3 websites. Everything that i have read or everyone that i have talked to said this is what they are doing to all M3s and if you dont want it done do not bring it to the dealer. or else it will get installed with out you knowing about it which is what happened to me.

I cant explain what happened to your car, but my 2001 M3 runs up to 8000 rpms with the latest software, as do many other cars (including 2005 models) of people I know. It used to hit around 8200 rpm, and the latest software dropped it down to 8000 rpm, but it still makes its power peak at 7900 rpm. You're the only person I've heard of that had a redline at 7600rpms...it's almost as if they put the wrong software (that for the M roadster) in your car.

and my last comment cause this is an X board :)

unless that 315 at 7600 was done by pulling the S54 out of the car and doing a flywheel pull..it is not accurate. In fact the BMW M3 S54 puts roughly 285hp to the ground and 240+/- torque in stock form.

have you even visted that forum? That is probably the only serious M3 forum that's filled with knowledge and hard cord autoxers/ track junkies...

anyway, all I was trying to say this is the wrong forum to talk about e46 m3, and if you are interested to know anything regarding S54's problem, go do a search on that forum instead.

Roadfly.org m3 forum

btw, I also own a E46 M3, therefore I know 1st hand about the wrong statement about lowered rpm after service action. This has been discussed and proven wrong.

Hi Dinanm3,

I was in service 3 wks ago.

I also had service action dones to my m3 in Nov 2004, it's a 02

It was discussed many many times on the M3 forum which really should be the place to talk about s54 m3, don't you think?

Cheers,
Jon

The M3 conversation was started here and thats where i am going to talk about it. I dont need to go to the M3 board because i dumped that time bomb you call an M3 and am waiting for the New V8 M3 or V10 M6. Not sure yet which i want. But when i get a new m3 that is when i will go back to the M3 board. But hopefully the new engines will be as reliable as other Mcars like the E36 and E39s. I currently have an E39 M5 and that is an engine you can not kill. I loved my M3 but i wasnt about to wait around until it blew up again out of warranty. It was not worth the worry. And i hate how BMW handled the entire S54 ordeal and i wish i could make myself go out and buy an audi or mercedes but even with all the problems BMWs have for me there is no substitute for an Mcar Made by BMW. No AMG or S or RS or whatever comes close.

Wow I just have to say this... You are a HUGE pain in the ass. He started the conversation here, he can talk about it here however much he wants.
Roadfly sucks, end of story, and :whocares: if he talks about an M3 here.

glad you are still in the M family.

Engine you can not kill? I guess you didn't hear all those horror stories about earlier E39 M5 engines?? :D

anyway, whatever floats your boat man...this is really not the point.

The point is, you are making false claims, and apperently I am not the only one who is telling you this.

Owned a m3 (or multiple ones) doesn't mean you are always right.

Can we wrap it up?

Cheers~
