Warning....Warning....
Bridge may freeze before road surface mean anything to you? 37 degrees reminds you that's it's cold enough for ice on the roadway. :) |
yeah well it does freeze at that temp. here. must be some up north kook stuff, hmm
|
If it's letting you know that it's 37 degrees Fahrenheit and you are driving in it, it no longer falls under the general classification of "up north kook stuff," trust me on that one.

We've had this discussion before and the best we can come up with is that 37F is close to 0C when you do the conversion. So, your X5 is basically telling you to watch for ice and it's getting f'king cold out.
EDIT: Here's one of the original threads: http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...t=temp+warning |
It's 37 F / 3 C because the thermocouple is located above the road, not on the road. It's a best guess to account for the temperature gradient from where the thermocouple is to the road surface.

Yeah, well, up here in the way, way north, its colder than 37 degrees from about November till first of April, so I don't need my BMW telling me that there may be ice on the road, cuz the ice is there for 5 months straight! So I have to listen to the car beep at me everytime I pull out of my heated garage.
And since there are more BMWs in one LA street than there are in my entire state, I don't see BMW really caring about the fact that I'd like a delete option on the ice warning! |
