Newbie's question

People mentioned staggered wheel from time to time. What exactly it means?

Banana 02-09-2007 03:40 PM

Staggered means the 2 rear wheels are wider in the back versus the front. For example my 19" staggered wheels are 10" in the back vs. 9.5" in the front.

Lbear,
Banana is right on:
Here's how Style 132 19" staggered wheels look...

Also with staggered wheels you have the 'joy' of never being able to rotate your tires... :(

Thanks for your explanation and picture. I was thinking about different wheel pattern or something. :)

I guess it is still possible to do left and right tire rotation, isn't it? Using 19" staggered wheel as an example, what's the milage requirement to do tire rotation/replacement?

i don't think left-right would do anything if you drive normally...

or unless your car is tilting to right or left, then you would be getting uneven wear...but that would be it...

It's common sense that the wheels are 90 degree to the ground. However, it seems the rear wheels look like "/---\" to me while I watching my X5 from rear angle.
