As far as who makes the Best? I don't have that answer since I purchased through JLevi and I'm not familiar with other brands.

I have the same exact problem, I posted about it 2 weeks ago and got no response, not even from JLevi. I even went as far as taking all the connectors apart and soldering the connections one by one and heat shrink wrapping them all. So turns out that theres a "cold weather ballast"? Why didn't they just ship it with that then? Or atleast give an option at checkout or something. Seems really stupid and thats pretty bad customer service. So now I have a $200 set of 3 bright rings and one dim one... great :rippedoff

I probably shouldnt have expected too much when the directions that came with them might as well have been for assembling a damn tricycle cause it had nothing to do with wiring on an X5. I know there are directions here on the board but honestly what kind of vendor ships a product with expectation that the customer will find the directions on a forum??? :loco:

I agree if there are better ballasts out there why not sell them as OE with the kits. I got in touch with Um Nitza and they didn't really have any answers either. I will let you know if I find anything out.

i remember the day tijanaw and "the gang" were installing the AE's for me (it was a LONG process). fortunately there was a member here that was very helpful and was just a phone call away.

jlevi did send out the CWB after i told him about the dimming. so i do have them--i just been busy.

i think my biggest gripe were the rings. the assembly is odd...i didnt think we'd be using glue and/or double sided tape. maybe that was my ignorance.

also, i dont know about you guys but the dimming does not happen every day. and when it does happen, it doesn't last long.

Well I sent an e-mail to JLevi support and their response was pretty much "this is a known issue, if you want we'll sell you some ballasts that will fix it" So basically they want to charge me even more to fix a known(yet unadvertised) problem with their product after I've already spent a ridiculous number of hours trying to get it to work correctly. I'm definitely not a satisfied customer. :thumbdown

blackbeauty 02-13-2007 04:13 PM

really? i thought he was only charging for S&H...

You know, I would love to do AEs on the X (did them on the M), but it ain't worth it to have one side dimming, winking or whatever knowing how pissed I'm gonna be when it happens. Mind you, those things (AE) are hot, but no1 has even attempted to state who makes the best. Members are having problems with the JLevi jumpoffs, and the other vendors also; so it seems like the least reliable mod........ I dunno; I roll with the HID fogs anyway......

xnsf 02-13-2007 06:03 PM

ooo...it would be cool if you can control the winking ;)
