Ok, now you will think I am a little anal, but I had them cut out the prior owner information from the service history and did the same on my e46 m3 history before giving it to them. I know I could get it but I feel it's not my business...

P.S. Great ride! really looks nice under those lights.

Based on the description in the article it does sound like the undetectable version of the k40. At least I know where to look now. I can tell you that there is no switch / volume settings anywhere and it is sort of loud. If I could turn it down it would be so much better.

Ok -- I now have the answers:

It is an undetectable K40 install. The are remote units in the front and rear of the x5, the speaker is in the drivers side vent, and the control unit is mounted in the cetner armrest glove box -- I didn't see it because I put my change in there and never looked (see pictures).

The lights are installed in the bottom of the center vent as you can see in the pictures. Thanks to all for your help -- that link to the review of the K40 was spot on!

That's a pretty cool setup you have there. So does the control unit allow you to turn it off and on?

It doesn't seem to turn it on and off, but I haven't played with it while driving yet... It seems to just adjust the sensitivity...
