getting 18-18.5 mpg so far on a mix of highway/city driving in our 05 3.0 X5 (auto). pretty impressed so far considering that i've been driving it in step mode with pretty aggressive shifts. of course anything is impressive coming from a expedition that barely did 14!

My 2006 4.4 sport has no trouble getting 17-18mpg local driving and easily gets 20-22 on the interstate (with higher mpg in the 60-65mph range) - my 2001 4.4 sport gets 15mpg at 100-110mph :trustme: :zoom:

:driver: I drive mine BMW 2001 X5 4.4 in sport mode allot but my average MPG is 16.4

04' 17.2, my wife's driving if any is on the highway. Most of the time it just sits in the garage looking pretty.
Question how do i reset mpg part on my x, i think my odometer might be stuck on 17.2. Wht u think? i know i know its not possible, but it never goes up or down. |

I average 18-18.5 in my 2005 4.8is, it has about 21,000 miles and it is a mix of city and highway driving.
I'm pretty happy considering my 2004 3.0 got the exact same mileage! |
My '06 4.4 now has just under 9000 mi. I'm using 89 octane at the advice and recommendation of my selling dealer, who recommends that fuel for all cars except the M's. I get 14.5-15 in the city and easily do 22 on the highway at 70-75 ACTUAL mph (i.e., 73-78 indicated). On a recent 5000 mile road trip, got as high as 26 . . . . I am well satisfied.
