Do you know how many millions of miles of sewer pipes that are laid in this country? Can you imagine in 50 or 100 years trying to find adapters? This is why the US has stymied the metric conversion.

Although, you would think that the-powers-that-be would do anything to create a cost-wasting/market-making project of such a grand scale!

I completely agree with you - Additionally, metric is easier to learn. I am a hs science teacher and I strugle with kids not understading measurements in either standard or metric systems.

metric is a lot easier to learn, not to mention remember. What do you think is easier to remember, that water freezes at 32 degrees and boils at 212? Or freezes at 0 and boils at 100? Just an example ....

I wonder, if you bought a "recycled" instrument pod from a junk yard, whatever the mileage was on that pod would be read when installed. So one could "turn back" the mileage by replacing the instrument panel?

when you do, the tampering light will still show up. the mileage is stored in a couple of places including your keys. if they don't match, that's when the dot appears

I've always liked the metric system and it does make a lot more sense. And since the diagnositic mode in the OBC does everything in metric, I have to learn it anyway. (For example, its the only way I can understand the instant fuel consumption numbers it spits out)

Hmm... let's see, These countries doesn't have the wheel in "wrong" side: Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Poland,.......
