Xoutpost.com - Looks like I am joining the E53 ranks!

I ran across this site in the past week when I began my X5 search, and it has been invaluable in my decision making. This afternoon I made a deal on an '01 X5 4.4l, Topaz Blue with Beige/light poplar trim, sport package, sport seats, premium package, 19" Y spoke wheels, Xenon's, retractable load floor, and BMW tow hitch. I have owned 7 different BMW's in the past 7 years (one E30 325is, two E30 M3's, E36 M3/4, one E46 323Ci, and two E46 330i's) and perform all of my own maintenance and repairs.

I must admit, I have always despised sport utilities and swore I would never own one myself. However, after 8 months of daily driving an E30 M3 (NEVER, I repeat, NEVER daily drive an E30 M3!) I decided to find something more comfortable and refined again. I need to carry my bike around, plus need room for golf clubs, computer equipment, etc. so I decided to take a serious look at the E53. On top of all that, I am 6'8" and need plenty of interior room too. I had driven a couple when they were released and I was very impressed, and after a quick spin in another X5 yesterday I decided to give the SAV a try for a few months.

It will be a week or two before I pick it up, but I am already pretty excited over it! I think one of my first purchases will be the DICE ipod adaptor, and after that I will probably take care of some preventive maintenance items (water pump, belts, coolant hoses, vacuum hoses, etc) just to be on the safe side.
