new seats

okay, I've got a couple of questions about the seats in my '02 3.0. First of all, it has the sport package, but not the sport seats? Why? Does anyone else have an '02 with sport without sport seats? I really don't mind the front seats, but the back seats really suck. I was wondering if I could probably just change out the back seat for the back seat of a 5 series, split fold of course. What are any of your thoughts?

Thanks for the input

It's not that simple. I HIGHLY doubt you could do it.

Most 2001-2002 Sport X5s iv seen dont have the sport seats. I wish we had them too. Theyre soo nice. In 2003 they became standard with the SP package.

The back seat of a 5 series is in no way similar to the X, other than it being a back seat...it would be easier to have a custom rear seat made...

I have an '02 with Sport Package and no sport seats. Oddly enough, despite the package being called "sport" it did not include the sport seats. Those were a $300 option. I ordered them but when an exact example as the one I ordered minus sport seats came available much sooner, I took it. I can't say I regret it. I have logged some long road trip miles in the X5 driving from SoCal to Canada and back. I do not have any complaints about the seats.

Forget the rear seat swap. I suppose if you were really determined to make the rears more sculpted you could do it as a custom job at a good upholstery place. They could probably build them up and recover them.. :dunno:

I don't think it could be that incredibly complicated, but what do I know? I build furniture for a living, and I have experience working with leather, I would just be concerned that if I redid the seats myself I wouldn't be able to find leather that matched the front seats.

Yes you can, the seat rails I think are the same. Therefore they will bolt in

Then why not get some E36 M3 seats? I loved mine, they were very comfortable.
