it sounds like you are the 3rd owner, if you bought it privatly and its CPO'd. I dont see a private owner dumping more money into it before selling it. Is it possbile the guy got the paperwork from somewhere else just get a few extra bucks out of you? I dont know how much pull you will have with that paperwork since you bought in privately and that paper could have come from anywhere. I guess one hint might be if you know how many owners its had.

I dont know how CPO works, but i think the paper is not valid at your local dealer since the system says so. There is something going on with the seller. And if the second owner or the auction did not get the CPO transfered to him/her the car is not CPOed when you purchased it. I think you either got scammed or the transfer of CPO didn't go through. If it is CPOed the local dealer system would say so. Either way, you should check with BMW extended warranty or 3rd party warranty on at least power train cover until 100Kmiles as everybody is on their own after 100K miles anyway no warranty covered whatsoever. Save and prepare for something happend after 100K miles. I paid $1200 to cover my X til 100Kmiles power train warranty through 3rd party right after the original warranty expired. BMW wanted $3800 for the same coverage plus lil extra. Well at least I know my engine, transfer case, and transmission are covered until i hit 100K miles. Good luck with the fight and get it warrantied soon.

Go back to the person you bought it from and tell him he sold you a vehicle under false pretenses. If anything maybe you can get him to agree to split the cost of the BMW extended warranty before the facotry warranty runs out.

Do not think that will get me anywhere.. I am sure as far as he was concerned it was CPO'd as well. I am just wondering if the Certification I got is a legal binding document. BMW Las Vegas already said if I have the certificate it was given by mistake. Well I have it and they should own up to it.

Not sure how this is BMW's issue at all, looks like you got jerked around by the previous owner. CPO's are transferable, regardless of where they go. As for "buying one from BMW" the original owner would have to do that for you before the warranty expired...or you would need to pay to have it certified (not cheap). If you aren't in their system, it isn't binding. You should have a cert and a card pertaining to the CPO. Do you have a CPO card w/VIN on it?

Yes I have the cert card with the VIN stamped and signed by the dealer...

I'd try going to a different BMW dealer then.

Already tried.. They said I have to have the dealer that issued the certification work with BMW NA. I have called BMW NA as well and they say the same thing. The dealer that issued it has to submit it. I am kind of stuck and pretty much screwed as it looks.

Doesn't the CPO give you some kind of extended warranty or do you have to buy it either way? If it was supposed to give you something that you're now not getting, I wouldn't give up without going as far as legal action against either the seller or dealer, if whatever you're out is worth the effort.

Yeah the CPO gives me the 2 year / 100K warrenty on top after the factory ends. That is what I am out of if they do not honor it.
