Faulty heated seats
The drivers side seat gets so hot it has melted some of that fine leatherette upholstery and literally will burn skin. Are there any of you that have this problem? Is there a recall on this? Technical Service Bulletin? Thanks in advance.
By the way, I'm new to the site. The X5 is my wife's car. We bought it used and have an extended warranty. Although the warranty does not cover this problem-- I don't think. |
I have the same problem. On high, the drivers left bolster gets uncomfortably hot. 01 X5 3.0i

This has been a BMW problem since 2000 on their whole model line, not just X5's. My M3 had burn marks on the seats, my X5 has a slight marking....apparently BMW hasn't mastered the fine art of electricity yet.

I had the same problem on my previous X. It was an 01. The driver seat got BURNING HOT !!!!!! They fixed the heater and replaced the leather. It was under CPO back then.

I had the same problem on my 530i. Not only did it burn through the leather but also a hole in my $2500 suit. I got the leather replaced and compensated the full value of my suit which was fairly new so I still had the receipt from my tailor.

I got simple solution: when you feel your ass is burning just shut it off. That's what I do.

replaced seat cushion
brought car into dealer for same problem -- service guy said common problem on drivers side since driver has to slide down a bit when exiting the car, and thus flattening the seat over time.
