Service Engine Soon light E-code P0440
My ses light came on today. it has been a while since the last fiasco with the light and my X has been really good to me these past few month (and of course vice versa) this morning the ses light came on and when I attached the code reader to see what it was it gave be a P0440 (EVAP emmisions malfunction message. does anyone know how to fix this problem without going into the stealer? greatly appreciate.

Reset it.
Probably from the gas cap. I got the same code. My gas cap wire was being pinched by the cap. I reset it and it hasn't come back on. |

There is an article on how to do it on the X5world home page. Essentially, you need to clear the fault codes using a code reader, according to the article.

If you fix the problem, the light should go off after a while on its own, especially if its the gas cap.
