Thinking of selling my 4.8is
Hi Gang,
I'm thinking of selling my '05 4.8is. I've had it for a couple years now, and I've come to a crossroads with it. It has 42,000 miles on it, and my wife (who is the primary driver) puts about 20,000 miles a year on a vehicle. So, here's my thinking: Pros: Been relatively trouble free I know where it's been It's in good condition (I'm anal) It has held it's value pretty well Cons: Approaching end of warranty, and I can't buy a BMW one (bought it used with 5k miles on it) The ride on the 4.8is is harsh to me now (guess I'm getting old or something) New ones are becoming more numerous, and I'm wondering how long before the e53 is "old" I guess I'm trying to decide if I think it's worth keeping for another couple years. I'd have to buy the warranty for it (don't feel comfy with these cars with no insurance) and I may as well buy the mtc. package. Figure I'd have to pay 4k for all of that. So, maybe I should just try to find another lightly used SUV, keep the same payment and start over? Anybody else been through this lately? What to buy though? Q7? (same hp as the 4.8is I have now) M-B M-Class? (is the quality up any?) E70? (no deals to be had here for sure) Thanks in advance |
I say Q7 sounds good. The other two is like keeping your X5.

Did you test drive the Q7, ML or E70 X5?

She liked the MB GL 450 (naturally, it's the most expensive thing we saw). I like the E70's, but I don't like paying MSRP for a car, and I'd rather buy it used if possible. The wife says the E70 looks too much like an X3 for her tastes...and that's hard to argue. So, I'm in a quandry! What's a decent selling price for an '05 4.8is with 42k miles on it? (assuming anally kept with new Michelin Latitude) |
keep it, or buy another e53 4.8is with ext warranty if that is the only issue you have....Most ppl still choose the e53 over e70 and its for a reason! OR, lol, wait for X6 and you definetly be payin msrp on that!:D

what about a v10 tdi toureg?
|
BTW, you will not be paying MSRP at all. If will be at least $3,000 off, in most cases.
|
let's say you buy an e70
just the tax on it, you'd pay what $6k? why not keep your current car and $6k in your pocket even when you're out of warranty i doubt you'll come even close to 6k out of your pocket for the next few years |
E70 is still the best of lot.
