Definately the same. Identical in fact.
My folding mirrors came from a 2006 and fitted straight onto my 2003 pre-facelift no problems - wiring and all. Hope this helps. |
Cheers Kev, if you see any around for sale give us a shout please.

I was just about to post this very question...
Hello all, I was just about to ask this very same question about the dissasembly of the folding mirrors. Apparently, the motorized mirrors do not like to be touched. One day (a while ago) someone must have brushed one of my mirrors and threw it off-track. Since then, the same thing happened to the other mirror. So they still work, but when I press the button to have them fold out or in there is about 3 to four extra clicks on the left mirror and 2extra clicks on the right. I intend to dissasemble them and hopefully place them back on the right track or cog. I decided this after a recent visit to BMW where they said they have to replace the entire mirror and motor assemblies for both sides, and I think the price was around 2 Gs. Whatever the price was, it was more than I was willing to pay for something that I hope to be an adjustment. More to follow.

It would be absoultely amazing if someone can share their knowledge about folding mirrors upwards for an E53 X5 for both prefacelift and facelifted models.

Hi all,
I just dug out an E39 M5 mirror and compared it to an E53 mirror, off the car, side-by-side, and they are totally different sizes. Shame - M5 mirrors on an X5 would have looked cool  Have to be some taiwanese aftermarket jobbie if you want upward folding mirrors I'm afraid - unless Schnitzer, Hartge, Hammann, etc. do something in the future. Doubt it though since the E70 is out. I'd be very interested in knowing if anyone knows of an improvement on the bat-ears of the E53 mirrors. Even though mine now fold - they still look far from 'nice'. I'd say cr@p is the best way to describe them. Seek and find.... |
I think it would be intersting if anyone has installed folding mirrors upwards in an X5 ?
|
still looking for this answer? lol I'd be interested in the folding mirrors too. no pictures here of the replacement parts though.
