coolant change

Hey guys, I tried searching (searched for over 30 mins) but I didn't find anything... How can I change my coolant in my 4.8is?? What are the steps involved? Should I use a 50/50 mix (In Canadian freezing temps)??

flush your coolant. about $150. power flush, not just drain it out.

From previous experiences, you can't go wrong with BMW coolant and distilled water (50/50 mix). All you need to do is open the drain valve on the bottom of the radiator as well the block drain bolt (located on the pass side on the 3.0, don't know where it's located on the V8 models) and let it drain. If it's in pretty bad shape, than you will need to flush the system.

The '04+ are supposed to have "lifetime" coolant, whatever that means (I would assume 5yrs+). You'll have to flush it anyway when you do a waterpump/t-stat replacement as a preventative maintenance between 60k-90k. So why bother with the flush now?

Many people still swear by the old service requirement of coolant flushes every 3 years. I know I do.
