If you prefer to follow OEM procedures... You need to cut slots into the bumber just like you would like to install the fenders flares with OEM procedures to able to use the OEM hardware kit .

Only aftermarket stuff have the reps kit that looks like 4.8is....Or you can just add the OEM 4.6is on to facelift X5.

The facelifted X5's use the same rear valence as the pre-facelift X5's. The 4.8is bumper is a complete assembly, so there is no 4.8is front valence that can be added on. There have been users on here that have fitted the 4.6is front valence onto their facelifted X5's by using 3M double sided tape.

I had previously installed the rear lower flares following the OEM instructions (cutting slots into the bumper) so I don't mind doing this for the lower 4.6is spoiler.
The hardware kit (part# 51-12-7-073-518 ) is only $30 bucks so if it gets too complicated I'll just add the adhesive and self-tapping screws like you showed me. I just wanted to know if anybody knew what the kit contained before ordering it from the stealer........

the hardwarekit contained same stuff (flat clips w/slot cut out)that you use to installed your lower bumber supports.

I think I'll go with a hybrid route, 3M double sided tape + self-tapping screws. I'll also either shave off the tabs or fold them to the side in case I ever want to part it out. I think I'll skip cutting out the slots this time around.

Thanks for all of the input. I'll be sure to post pics once the installation is complete.

Awesome. Does the front fit as well?

I assume I need the whole assembly?

Where is the best place to get this stuff? Waiting for a 4.6iS part out?

I went ahead and purchased the OEM hardware kit for installing the 4.6is rear spoiler (part# 51-12-7-073-518). I'd be interested in knowing what the 3 rubber triangles are for? The metal clips and rivets are pretty self explanatory.

BTW you don't need a rocket science to put on bmw body kit.

I was wondering if there was a trick in putting the caps on. I got the 4.6is bumper all installed but now i'm having a problem snaping on the caps due to the end tabs. Attachment 38668
