Powerchip on valvetronic V8?

I asked this question well over a year ago back on a forum that I'll leave unnamed... - it was probably a bit premature so I'd like to ask again now...

Anyone have any experience with a Powerchip on the new valvetronic V8 engines (4.4 or 4.8) from this source? http://www.powerchipgroup.com/

If so, please share your experiences!

Thanks!

...Jay

Looks very promising, but also very pricey. If supercharging was not an option for less than $10K, then that would seem to be a good alternative. I submitted my info so that they will send me a data sheet.

Yup the Kelleners kit for around $8000. No one I know has one yet, but I've heard good things about their other products. ESS tuning has one for up to '03, but I havent talked to them to see if that kit will be available for the valvetronic engine. Price is around $8300. There's also Dinan (up to '03 anyway), but that kit is more expensive.

I think the price for the 4.4 is a typo on their website at $1490. The price for the 4.8 chip is $640 and it's pretty much the same engine with a bit more displacement, no? Even $640 is a bit steep, but certainly much closer to something I might consider...

I agree it should be a typo...the tuning for the M3 is also $640 and that should be much more complex...but it doesnt appear to be. If you look at the detailed data sheet it breaks down the price and hp gain and gives a price/hp of around $80. On that sheet it repeats the same price of $1490 which seems very high.

Also, this same price is listed on other valvetronic engines, so that may be the problem. The chip for the 645/745 is also $1490, but it take power from 325 hp to 351 and torque from 330 to 353. I'm not sure why there's a bigger jump for those cars vs. the X5.

Not for $1490 lol... I just checked their pdf file and yup $1490. They can go fuk themselves with that price.

yeah, i've been contemplating this on my '03, but haven't mustered up the courage to do so.
