Replacing stock automatic shift knob
Has anyone here removed their automatic shift lever, as in this DIY article?
http://www.xoutpost.com/articles.php?...icle&artid=149 Just curious if it's as easy as indicated to just pull the auto shifter knob straight off the shaft, releasing the locking mechanism. And also, I'm curious if the locking mechanism resumes proper function again if the you decide to re-install the stock auto shifter knob at a later date... (?) |
The shifter does come off as easy as that. I pulled mine off (sounds a bit perverted, doesn't it?) just to try it and when I put it back on, it worked same as ever...

Cool... I guess I'll try installing my Momo shifter from my gone-but-not-forgotten e46 3-series tonight to see how it looks/feels!!

I'd like to see pictures once it is installed

Will do...
I just ordered the chrome gauge cluster rings too, so I think the chrome on my Momo will pick that up nicely  |
Just tried to remove the shifter knob, and I could not get the damn thing off
For those that have successfully removed them, do you have an '05? (I doubt it matters, but who knows... ) Is there any trick to getting it off? |
