The flares have diff part numbers though, and I think that is why running boards are not fitting 100%. I don't mine the black ones since my truck is black.

The part numbers for the black running parts start with 8...., and so the the flares for them, and the aluminum running boards part #s are posted above.
Black ones are shown in accessory catalog on home page of X5world.

Cause the flares I have now, don't fit. They are the ones for the aluminum running boards I believe then, since the part numbers match up for those.

sorry for the noob Q, but I have getting conflicting info from Tischer. They are telling me the Aluminum running boards will not fit with 20" wheels????? I believe there are members here that run them with 20s?

The running board kit sold for the 3.0 / 4.4 does not come with the flares that the 4.6is rerquires so in their minds it does not "fit" the 4.6is with the 20 inch rims. As you know you need to purchase the flares to go with the 4.6is.

Yes the aluminum running boards do "fit" with the 20 inch wheels and yes they will "fit" with the 4.6is with the additional wider flares.

I have the flares already, I got the part numbers off here for my 4.8is. So then the parts guy at Tischer is confused then. So its OK then to order the aluminum running boards, especially since I already have the front and rear flares in the garage from my last order?

The black ones are for sale if anyone is interested, all OEM. I ordered a set of aluminum ones a few minutes ago.

So - will the aluminum ones fit on a 2006 4.8is without buying different flares?
 
it seemed like the answer was "yes" but then in reading it again, perhaps not?

I would think the 4.8is would already have flared fenders for the 20" wheels, and perhaps to compliment the 4.8 body kit?

you will need a set of new flares for your 4.8is. If you check realoem, under body trim you will see that p/n for 4.6/4.8 ones has different numers.
