4.8 for $68,995
Hey fellas,
Need some opinions/advice here. Just came across a '05 LeMans blue 4.8 with 12,800 miles. The story is that this was a Bmw dealership mgr's car, so it's not considered used and is not CPO'd. My question is how much bargaining power would I have with the sales with the new X5's coming out soon and this being a slightly used car. I plan on visting the dealer this Saturday, any input is appreciated. Also, I have a '05 4.4 right now that I picked up 3 months ago. I love the 4.4 but if I can find a good deal on a 4.8 I'll jump on it. |
Keep in mind that the new X is still more than a year out. I would rather it be titled and turned into a CPO car for that kind of money. 68995 seems a little high for one with 12k miles on it...but that is just me.

I agree...I was thinking more along the lines of $65K ish. |

All that said, I think you should be able to get it for less, or just call Bramas BMW in Miami and ask about the silver on black 4.8 they have. |
Dealers are still not dealing much on the new 4.8 (maybe $2K off sticker) b/c they only get 3-4 of them a year and can still make $$$ on each one.
|
thanks for all the input guys...i made an appointment to go down there (dealership) on Saturday and we'll see what happens. Will post pics if I miraculously end up getting the car. :D
|
That price is kind of high. I got mine with 10 miles on it, fully loaded for 72500 out the door.
|
used is used hahah 1200 miles is well used, dam stealer
|
What does it have? PP,SP,NAV,premium sound,xenon,...what? For THAT price, it'd better have EVERYTHING! I'd still try to get it down below $60k due to the mileage. Maybe more if they throw in max warranty.

I bought my 4.8is in November of last year. It is a 2004 with Nav, comfort seats, retractable floor and rear climate. I paid $68,150.00
And, the car was brand new (33 miles on the clock.) Color was also Silver/Black with Dark Wood (sought after color combo.) So befor you purchase a used one at close to $69K, just know I bought a new one for close to a thousand less than that. I know a wrangled a great deal but I did a lot of work to get that deal. I must have called 50 dealerships and worked the deals against the other deals. I bought the car about 50 miles from home and that was fine for me. There are probably about 20 dealerships closer but they weren't willing to deal. And, being a member of BMWCCA, I got a thousand cash back from factory. So the car really only cost me $67,150 - This is what you should do: Decide that you are going to pay no more than $67K for a NEW car. Go to the BMW website and download the names and numbers of all the BMW dealerships within 100 miles from your home. You can even expand it to 200 miles if there are not a ton in your area. Call the dealerships one by one, tell them that you are ready to buy the car TODAY but you will only pay $67K for the car. You might have to be flexible on color and options but if you search long and hard, you might just land the deal I did. Good luck. B |
Don't pay more than 62/63K for it. I bought my new (13 miles) 2005 X5 4.8 for $68,700 in June (MSRP $73,360).
|
Stupid question here!!! Didnt the 4.6 come with navi how come it's an option on the 4.8 now?
|
$$$$
|
I just bought a brand new '05 4.8is for $61,895
It was sitting on their lot, they wanted to move it, the car has only 175 miles on it. So I would say keep looking!!

|
those are some spiffy wheels, but no nav...
|
Nav
I know, I don't like the nav, took me a while to find one without it...
|
Does luxury tax apply to all states or just California, anyone know?
|
Dont like NAV? why?
|
i'm a little late on this thread, but thought i'd share...
late Nov. I purchased an '04 4.8is (TiSi/black int/dark poplar), w/retractable floor and running boards for $62,999. It had 9500 miles on it. The dealer wouldn't come down a penny on the price. I traded in an '01 4.4 (loaded including nav) that had 84,000 miles on it. The dealer gave me $22,000 on the trade-in. you will love your 4.8! |
f355b - I think NAV is point less where I live, I would never use it, and BMW NAV is not touchscreen, which makes it even more pointless for me. Plus I don't like how bright the screen is at night.
radio x5 - that's still a great deal for what you're getting, I think the reason I got the car so cheap is that the E53 body is being phased out soon, on top of the fact that the 4.8is, although rare, is not a popular model because of the price. Also, mine has no leather and no nav which MOST people want. I'm having the dealer add Sirius before they ship the car, they charged $695 for the install and the antenna goes on the roof. |
lat Oct I bought an '04 4.8 off of Ebay with 6300 miles for $58,100. Have been enjoying it ever since.
|
great deal, especially because 4.8's sticker for over 70k!!
:)
|
Another data point...
I'd keep looking!
Two months ago, I got a brand new '05 4.8 from my local dealer w/ NAV for $66,400 (list 72,600). I'm sure there are other new '05s out there in smaller markets, with dealerships eager to unload them. Good luck! |
i just got mine for 59,000 Lemans blue and black.
Is a 05 with 4000 miles on it with all options including heated steering wheel and sliding floor on the trunk and nav. They were desperate to sell it .. i wonder why ? but what a car .. love it so far and hope to keep it long and be active on the forum ~! good luck on your search as well ! |
holy thread revival
i haven't been on for a while so I was surprised to see this thread still alive. thks for all the feedback guys, truly a great forum. To update everyone: no I didn't end up getting the car, because the dealer would not come down (not even a penny) on the price :tsk: . So, I'm still enjoying my 4.4i, no with x-pipe :). THe new plan is to just finish the lease on this car and hopefully p/u a 4.8is when turning this one in. tks again fellas.
and congrats TS 4.8is..enjoy a great car. |

Bmw dealer down the street from me has an '05 4.8is with 7K miles that has been sitting in the CPO lot for 3 months. TiAg Silver with blue interior trim normally found on LeMans Blue cars. BMW CPO price of $68995, but dealer offered it to me for $63500. Not enough to get me out of my '02 4.4i.
Whoever said comfort seats - yea buddy! It's a must have. |
