:iagree: I bought the X5 4.8i and all of the sports options (and wheels etc.) for its sport capability. The comfort seats do feel nice but I have not been uncomfortable at all in my X5 with the sports seats. Have done a number of multi-hour drives with no discomfort at all.

I prefer the firm and supportive sport seats on long trips. I also need the extendable thigh support for long distances. I have spent 8 hours driving with no problems. Softer seats are harder on my back over time. I have the same preference for firm support with the mattress I sleep on...

Hi

I would consider trade with you, I have a 05 3.0 with 21K miles, the passenger seats are like new, and the driver side always had the sheepskin on it ( wife likes it ) the seats are black ....... send me your email address and I will try to send you some pictures today.....

Lets be honest here, any 5 hour drive would be uncomfortable.

The sport seats are the most supportive around the side bolsters. you can try a seat or butt pad from sharper image or brookstone. as a fallback, there's always those beaded seats that cabbies use :)

I purposely chose the comfort seats for the adjustability of the separate lower and upper lumbar support. I wish they had a bit more side bolstering, but I use my X5 for more utility than sport so I don't mind too much. I can drive around 4 hours or so (longest I've done) without any noticeable discomfort or fatigue.

I recently drove my X5 back from Tahoe in a snow storm and it took 11 hours, including 5 hours immoble as they cleared an accident. I can honestly say that neither my wife or I had any seat aches. Was it my comfort seats? I doubt it. Was it that we are rugged Americans that laugh at discomfort? I hope so.:)

I can completely relate! I specifically didn't purchase an X5 with sport seats b/c of the discomfort to my back. After just a 20 minute test drive at the dealer, my back was aching. I have the regular seats and find them very comfortable, even on 6 hour road trips. I think your best option is to trade with someone. You've already got 2 offers. Best of luck.

Please email pix to mygsdmax(at)yahoo.

I remove mine when detailing. It is four bolts and a wired connection. I'm unsure if the wiring is different between seats...doubtful.

Personal preference for me is Comfort Seats because of the vast adjustability they offer. Being able to adjust not just the tilt but specifically the upper back adjustment makes these unbeatable. I rave about how great they are. We did a trip over 2400 kms and never once complained about discomfort. I had to have them on successor and turned down 4.8's with Sport Seats.

I'm only comfortable in sports seats... I need the leg extension feature!!;)
