Same noise behind the climate control
I have the same problem. My wife was hearing this sound and she point out to me. I noticed that it shut off after a while but running again if start the car. I think is normal but I saw some dust build up at the two small vent where the noise/climate control is. Maybe blow out the dust will solve the problem. Did anyone contact the dealer regarding this issue?

it is 'normal' got it on my 2004 3.0d, wind windows down go back to car 15 mins later and have a listen fan is no longer audible, i guess a spray with some high pressure air duster will do it no harm, unless of course the noise is so annoying and audible?

Unfortunately I instigated this noise while cleaning my 05. I blew into one of those little vents to dislodge dust etc and that's what started it up! Continues after the key is removed etc and continued even after an hour or so... will see if it's still going in the morning. Perhaps not such a good idea to use compressed air around these vents?

Whell mine starts ticking after I turn the key for about 3 secconds. After that It's wirling sound when the Heater is turned on. If I lower the heater power, It fades away, but sometimes it goes away by itself. weird kind of.

Did you guys find the solution to this? I have the same problem and i removed the temperature control panel yesterday and found a very small fan/blower behind the blower setting buttons (for face or legs or Auto etc) and it was constantly running even with the ignition in OFF position.
It should go off when X is turned off. Any suggestions what it could be? Not the FSR, i guess? |
I found few links and I'll try it tonight and let you know if it worked.... Basically, these links below are suggetsing to clean the fan of the dirt and then oil it a bit for smooth running...

I forgot to mention about this. I fixed this irritating sound. Removed the climate trim as per the instructions and oiled the small fan and the noise is gone..... I noticed that it still runs but there is no sound anymore... Please use the links above to get rid of the similar sound...

The running blower motor sound when the X5 is turned off is one of the symptoms of a bad Final Stage Resistor. We have several options available from OEM to Aftermarket parts choose from when replacing the Final Stage Resistor.
