Problems with the new X5, insight appreciated

I have a 2005 X5 4.4i, sport, premium, 132's, etc. with 1150 miles on it. Although I am pretty much thrilled with the car, it has 3 issues that are really obnoxious:

(1) When backing up and turning the wheel you get a "clunk" from the front end pretty frequently. This seems to be an issue for a few folks here.

(2) About once a week, when I go to unlock the car with the remote, the alarm goes off and will not shut off for about 30 seconds no matter what I do. Even starting the car does nothing to stop the infernal racket.

(3) The stereo (DSP & NAV) seems great but the some of the interior bits seem to resonate on certain songs making for rattling and buzzing from various corners of the car. Strangely, this is not necessarily a function of volume or particularly bass-heavy music--one never knows what song will set it off.

Does anyone have any insight as to whether these are common issues, how to make sure the dealer understands the problem (i.e. is there a TSB on any of this I can just hand the SA to ensure I don't get the "we couldn't reproduce it" or "that's normal" response)

Thanks.

Sorry, I can be of no help. I have a 2005 4.4i (May 2005 build), and have had none of those issues.

Although Im not familar with any of these symptoms, you should feel safe in the fact that you can make your stlr figure it out...Use your warranty to its fullest extent..Youll miss it when it goes...

Eh number 3 can happen to any car. My 2002 4.4i with stock audio sometimes makes things rattle, too without turning it up.

The best course of action is to book some time with the dealer's shop foreman and attempt to re-produce each of the problems. Take as much time as you need to re-produce the problems since the foreman gets paid to ride around with you, too. :)

2005 X, not the 4.4 but the 3.0d,

points 1 and 2 I have been lucky enough not to experience yet.

point 3, yep I am with you, was told by the dealer it was normal :dunno: my is more the case of a bass rattle i think, but it seems to happen at quite low volumes. i have contemplated asking for the door panels to be taken off and everything checked to be secure behind.

changing the DSP settings to the article UCrewX5 pointed out to me did help, but didnt solve the problem

reading other posts i get the general feeling that people are not over the moon with the DSP stock stereo. definately something I will upgrade starting with the SUB at some point.

I have problem 1 and have been to the dealer multiple times to fix it and they can not figure it out and even had a factory rep come look at it and they say they inspect the front end and everything is fine it is safe to drive but they do not know what is causing the noise. So if you bring your X in and they fix problem 1 please let me know so i can go back.

I have a May '05 build car, too, but no problems that you've described.

I have a build 12/04 and have #1 but occasionally when moving forward not backing up. I also have #2 and have had the alarm go off twice and by inserting the key and turning to the on position the alarm went off unless it was after 30 seconds or so. Very annoying..especailly if it is inside your garage.
