Sunroof - One touch close or not

Hello,
I was playing with my sunroof the other day and noticed that it did not slide to close with one touch of the button. One touch open is there but you have to hold down the button to close the sunroof (front the sliding position not the vent position). I did read the manual but it was not clear if it was only the auto open that was being referred to. I have had my car for almost two years now but don't remember it ever auto closing the sunroof.

TIA

I just ran out and checked with mine.... its all one touch, vent, open and close.. what year do you have? mine is an 03... I am not sure if that matters...

Use search, there might be something in the way or so and that is why it does not close auto

Mine close/open and pop up/down with one touch an 03 X
But to do that i got to push the button harder ....

all auto on my facelift 05 , there is 2 points of travel on the button forward and back .

Push all the way forward/ back to get auto and slightly forward/back for manual postioning of opening

**edited mine is the pano roof**

not sure if this makes much a difference but do you have a standard moon or panoramic moon roof?

motordavid 04-09-2008 11:24 AM

Our old '01 with moonroof, (weird name: who drives along viewing
the moon?!), cracks open, opens fully, cracks closed and slides
closed fully, with one touch on the button.

If you have the PANA Roof and it is fully open, you have to press the button once to get it to slide closed to the 'normal' 1/2 open position, and then again to fully close.

Hi Folks,
I have a standard sunroof on a 2004. I think there is something wrong with mine. It auto opens but does not auto close. I will stop by the dealer tomorrow.

Thanks and will update with feedback!

Abster,
You could try the second part of the procedure in Item #5. http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...hlight=sunroof

Should it also close with the key fob??

blktoptrvl 04-10-2008 05:39 PM

No.

None of the US models will close the roof or the windows from the FOB

Mine will close the windows with the fob, and I'd swear it closed the roof with the for when I first got it but stopped after the dealer reflashed the ECU for an airbag code after an airbag sensor failed.

whitey 04-10-2008 05:59 PM

my fob can close the windows and roof even the inner lining

abster641 04-15-2008 03:04 PM

Thanks for the help folks. The dealer needed to replace the rubber gasket that was popping up every so often. All better now!

I would guess that yours is a programming 'error' that slipped through.

And yours (unless I misread your profile) is not a US model.
