Rear Roundel Base Removal?

I was wondering how the base of the roundel on the rear trunk comes off. Is it glued? or what? i wanted to take it off to clean it and put it back on but if it is glued prob not.

Thanks

not that I know how to remove it, but in 10 or so BMWs over the years, I have yet to see a part glued to the body. Try the part ETK or realoem.com to see if you can figure out how its' assembled.

For starters...

Always use the search function. I was able to replace all roundels simply by doing a search.

ya i used the search function. There are no threads on the base just the roundel. I checked realoem already and it didnt show how.

:D I just replaced my front and rear roundels!

The rear roundel is a glue on and a bit$H to get off. Once you remove it, you will need a new one! Be very careful removing it. I had a buddy slightly pry it while I ran a very sharp razor blase around the edges to break the glue seal. To replace I cleaned all the old glue off and cleaned it......once that is off you will need I believe it was an 8mm hex type screwdriver ( I just butchered what the name of the tool is). Take off base, clean, tighten back on and apply new roundel. Done!

I hope this helps!:D

That is the whole thing not just the roundel on the top of the base?

RichiRich 04-24-2008 03:25 PM

Yes! The whole thing. First remove glued on Roundel. That will expose the screw to remove the base.

I took mine off with a cheap credit card and a blow dryer. It softens the glue/tape and it came of easily.
