Dawg,
Glad everyone involved came out OK. Would be interested in seeing the total tally $$$ from the adjuster. And what you plan to do in terms of getting it fixed vs. taking the payout and gunning for a new X down payment:thumbup:. I've been rear-ended twice in previous vehicles (Honda, Toyota), and it's alway super annoying how folks just do NOT pay attention to keeping their distance:cussing:. They think Newtonian physics is for "other" people, it does not apply to them. Personally, I think aggressive tail-gating should be pursued by the cops much more vigorously than plain old speeding. FSETH, I'm not an expert either, but I would assume you're thinking of older models of the F-150. Nowadays, there are universal safety standards where all vehicles have to comply with the same basic crash test safety standards. If the crash test dummy in the F-150 "dies" at 35 mph because the truck did not crumple in front, Ford would have a problem on its hands. But then again, this IS the infamous Ford company. I believe half the case histories studied by 1st and 2nd year-law students are "Mr._______ vs. Ford Motor Company" :D. |
x54.4blue - not sure what point you are trying to argue because no where did I say the X was "better". I just made the obvious point that the F150 sustained more damage than the X5.
StanF18 - repair quote without tearing it down was around $5000. I just sunk $4000 on a new tranny into it, so replacing it is not an option right now (not to mention I am still making payments on the vehicle). Also, this person was not tailgating. We had been stopped for a good 5-10 seconds before she nailed me. Just wasn't paying attention to the fact that we were stopped. Instead of replacing her, I am going to take the medical settlement and buy her a set of new wheels!!! |

I'm sure they saw the BMW roundel, crapped their pants and decided to make the offer. See..... owning a BMW has it's advantages, right! |
Your bumper probably would have suffered more damage if you did not had the hitch. Hitch requires a change of rear bumper insert.

Broads in fullsize SUV's and trucks....idiots and a complete waste of gas and space on the freeways. Unless she's carrying kids EVERYDAY, it's called a Civic. Leave the trucks to people who actually know how to manuever them around poles, other cars, etc. ;)
