Daytime running lights programmed... how do i know?

I took my x5 2004 to the stealer to take care of cluncking noise coming from my front wheels when making a left turn. They replaced few things in there, don't remember exact parts, but seems to have fixed the noise issue.

I asked them to program my daytime running lights (I thought this was free, but was actually $65.00). Now a stupid question...

how do i know it's programmed? doesn't the daytime running lights does just that... lights on while driving during the daytime? On my way home I just kept waiting for it to activate the daylight running lights, but nothing. I have my lights to auto so it only went on when in the dark (tunnels). Once I got home, I got out of my SAV and I don't see any difference as of when I didn't have the programming done. Does this mean they didn't do sh!t? $65 for nothing? or am I missing something?

Thanks,
Dannye

You won't notice anything from inside, but your high beams will be on low voltage....Phil

While it's running, take a look at the front of the car...should be able to see them on...you can notice.

and if you are from the military and get USAA insurance, i heard you can get additional discounts for having them on.

Once you start your X, the 2 inner lamps near the grills should automatically light up everytime.

You are lucky you are in the US, in Canada they chargeyou $500 to activate the Daytime running lights...a 5 minute job!

For $500 you could just buy your own encoder and change what you want - when you want.

It should be possible... do you do programming yourself? look for the DLR entries in the file from the LCM...

if somebody programs it for you - it is only 30 minute job, from starting the computer, connecting, downloading file from the LCM, adjusting the file, and then uploading the file back...

Hey Term..., I ordered the software a few days ago, I've read a few threads around here of the codes you've activated/deactivated and I'm looking to do most of those too, if I have any questions when running that software would it be cool if I PM you?

Sorry skorpiond, don't mean to hijack your thread
