A broken coolant hose could sometime be the sign of an underlayer problem like for example a faulty thermostat or water pump. Recently I had a very similar problem with the top hose (same one as the one shown on the picture). The garage just replaced it without looking for any other possible problem. 3 days later I broke another hose. This time my entire cooling system (radiator, thermostat, water pump) had to be replaced.

I just recently broke my hose in the garage, I when to Autozone and got a foot brakeline hose and form it similar shape to the original one, now it temperary use until I got a original one. Once I replace it I will keep this spare one in the trunk for future use, I think there is a faulty design on this plastic hose here. It is easy to shatter and broke in pieces.
Caution: do not use any other materials but brake liner for this piece. The fluid is extremely hot. |
Mine broke in the exact location on Monday. Seems like it wore through the attachment point. I attempted to fix it with a rubber hose from AutoZone so I can drive it temporarily but that only lasted 15 minutes. I lost a ton of fluid :(... Off to the dealer I go to pick this up.
