W89coupe, I'm frankly embarrassed by the behavior of some on this forum. I realized many were just joking around (and there were some funnies!) but some of the comments were really out of context, overblown and meant to dig you and that just isn't right.

NovaX5 and Youry were right on the money. We all have had struggles with the X5 and if your cars aren't working out then at some point you just gotta move on. The right thing for the forum to say would have been something like "sorry your cars didn't work out...best of luck!" instead of the angry crap that was posted by a select group of people who are (apparently) far too into their status symbol. I'm sorry you had to end your forum experience here on a sour note.

Flip side of that would be there are better ways to express one's feelings than for someone who has posted less that 15 times on an X5 forum posting that X5's are a piece of shit. Last time I checked, many members of this forum own X5's, right? How could anyone not see this comming ahead of time?

I was joking with the OP and actually agree that X5's could be more reliable. I have had my fair share of issues with them as well, but IMO it is a very good looking, safe, well built, fun to drive vehicle. The only downside would be some reliability issues and maybe the cost of gas. I wouldn't go as far as calling it a P.O.S.

Best of luck to you W89coupe. I will have to say though, it always makes me laugh when people complain about the reliability of the X5 then go out and buy cars that are rated worse than the X5. The V8 Trailblazer has below average overall predicted reliability and the X5 is above average. :dunno:

every x5 is different. Im at 105k and no major problems like what you have experienced, people were just annoyed when you said that its a piece of s*** and giving them an impression that ALL X5s are like that. So your case is not always the same as the others. There are owners here that enjoys X5, including myself and based on my experience, it's not a piece of s*** but its a driving machine. Its my second one, first was a 330i and i both loved them. But i didnt take your personally though, every car make has its flaws IMO, your new trailblazer will not be a good one for others and may give them problems as well. So its a part of life that we need to deal with. Have a good one man!

I did not say that ALL X5s were pieces of shit. I said my 2 were and that I hoped ALL OF YOU have better luck than I did. I was not trying to step on any toes. The only problems that I found on the ss trailblazer was the tranny. In just about every case the owners admitted to driving them like race cars everywhere they went. My "local" BMW dealer was also an hour away and there are two chevy dealers within 10 minutes of my house. i bought a brand new 08 with a full warranty. if I do have any issues i will be more than happy to share. It just gets agrivating when something is ALWAYS broke on a vehicle. I would love to have a 4.8 X5 cause they look killer, but I just dont think I could ever buy another one. BTW, the BMW plant that builds the X5s here in S.C. is only an hour and 1/2 from my house. Once again, I hope you all continue to have good luck.

I can't believe you stepped into a trailblazer out of an X-5. Thats like going into a pinto after owning a ferrari. To each and his own though, but I promise you one thing, you'll have a little fun in the TB-SS, but no where near what you would have in the right comboed X-5. I am wondering if you serviced your X-5 well with as many problems you experienced. Mine has been flawless other than the window regs and the heat/control deal. All vehicles have a down side, every single one of them.

The problems that I had were not maintenance issues. The things that were broke were not things that I could have maintained. You know that there are lemons in every field. The ss trailblazer is the ls2 6.0 platform. I had the 4.4 and that "pinto" will smoke that "ferrari". There are a lot more options on that ls2 than on that 4.4. But we all have an opinion, mine is just faster than yours.:stickpoke If my tbss wont do it, i promise you my little 8k mustang will!

Everyone has to remember that every car company will have lemons! If you go to any car forum or research car site, you will find the good and bad for each model. I did a lot of searching (of a lot of bimmmers and other SUV's) before we bought the X and it was a over load. People on the reviews loved it or found something they did not like about it. I have a 93 range rover and my dad has had a 91 for 10 plus years and these issues w/ the X do not even come close to the issues that can happen w/ the Rangies (still lov the LR's).

Key parts (some) about cars coming of the line:
Which day of the week and time it was built.
When were the computers last cailbrated.
and there is a lot more....

Quick comparo of the previous gen X5 and current Trailblazer. I used photos of hte e53 seeing as that is which model you had. The TB gets put to shame by a 7 year old design. I have to be honest, I would rather have my X5 pulled by a wrecker everywhere I go than drive a Trailblazer. How can you stand to look at that interior? The exterior isn't much to look at either. By the way, the Trailblazer was rated as Average for overall crash worthiness while the e53 X5 was scored as good.

Yes, the TB is a faster accelerating vehicle, but does it brake and corner better than the X5? Does it have that "car-like" feel in the twisties? Is it as safe? I doubt it. It also gets worse gas mileage! I just dont get how the two can be compared at all.

I agree that the x5 is more stylish but i dont care to look cool sitting on the side of the road. I did not buy a run of the mill trailblazer either. The tbss drives just as sporty as the x even in the corners. The main thing is that is what my wife wanted. She really likes the car so thats what I bought her. I would not have bought a regular tb. Just go to a chevy dealer and test drive one and then if you like flame away. I think they look really good on the exterior, where I agree the interior could use some style. The ss has different seats and a few other things. I really like the ls2 platform too btw.
