Umnitza P53s
So I placed an order about 3 weeks ago for Umnitza Projecter 53s for my E53 X5, despite being advised by friends and message board warnings to stay away from Umnitza. I thought it was a rather long time but didn't mind because I figured the wait would pay off. So I arrive home today and they were there..I open the box, and yeah. When people advise you to avoid ordering from umnitza..they are doing that for a reason. They sent me some cheap headlights that you can get from ebay for like $250. I paid $600 for Umnitza headlights not this cheap crap! And this isn't some mistake, I've read on message boards that they have done the same exact thing. What kind of company would even TRY to put their name on something that isn't up to their quality? I am extremely disappointed and will be sending this back. I am now thinking of possibly ordering from a different company, possibly Custom Angel Eyes.. hope they are better.
Cheap crap sent: http://i395.photobucket.com/albums/p...9292008485.jpg http://i395.photobucket.com/albums/p...9292008479.jpg What should have been sent: http://i395.photobucket.com/albums/p...ngeleyes-1.jpg |
Sorry to hear of your troubles, I hope you get your money back.
Bavtoyz.com, part of of umitza, ripped me for a good $200. |
How do they get away with all this? They need to be tought a thing or two about BASIC customer service. But ya I should be getting either a refund or an exchange. I ordered from Modbargains so I kind of have them on my side. So far they have excellent service. I was thinking about forgetting the Umnitza product completly because of this experience, but customangeleyes.com lights are about 600 more (I need the whole headlight housing). But I guess I would rather pay a bit more for a good quality product and service..
|
Hmm..very strange..because the ones on ebay are the actual p53 ones..those ones you show on your pics are not p53's...sorry for your troubles man...that sucks..
These are the p53's http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-03...mZ380067783927 |
those are still p53 replicas and they dont have teh predator chromium angel eyes in them (paid an additional $180 for). i wish they sent me those. at least they could have ALMOST fooled me.
|
Damn...ok I see your beef now. So you're saying you paid umnitza for the chromium's AE's with the p53's and they didn't give you the chromium AE's? On top of not even giving you the correct actual p53's?
|
yup yup. but surprisingly umnitza called me to correct the problem..which is good I guess. they say there is an issue with the p53 headlight that i wanted (it leaks) that is why they sent me the 'new' one.

These pics....

yeah i wish i knew that earlier. its on its way back tomorrow though so thats good.
anybody have suggestions of any high quality headlights with angel eyes? |
Hands down without a doubt 110%...no questions asked.....
...and I have posted this time and time again in mnay threads......the best aftermarket Headlight set up out there is from dave G at www.customangeleyes.com / www.angelibrite.com contact him and tell him what you want.... the pics on the website are an old solution the new solutiion which I have is AWESOME! yes yes ....it costs more..as that is always the arguement I get...but it looks HAAAWT!! a bunch of us at the tristate meet got to see the solution and they all gave me the Thumbs up! hope this helps....I too looked at the p53....the CAA Solution looks like OEM on top of it...not cheap aftermarket affect! RR:thumbup: |
I agree with richrich, custom angel eyes are top notch. They are pricey but they are definitely the best...They look amazing..
|
Well, for the benefit of doubt, I wasn't going to post this publicly until I confirm my case is solved (or not!). But since you mentioned it....
I'm having exactly the same experience with umitza, they send me the same cheap crap and I was almost fooled too. Not only it's look and build quality are completely out of place, it started to fog and have water condensation; both of the AE on one passenger side dropped hanging after a week; and the light pattern was the wrong side of the road;... not to mentioned that they had shipped the headlights without the harness. After all the ding-dong-ding-dong, they said (more than 3 weeks ago) they would send me the replacement that is exactly what it should be... then they pushed for a week because the replacement they got were broken and had to order from Taiwan.. then last week they asked to push for another 2 weeks because they had to order from Europe in order to get the ones with correct pattern... bla bla bla. So hear I am with the X5 looking so stupid... having fogs and water dropping on one side, and having the AE rings hanging on the other... oh and while driving back home this evening, I got stop by the police who issued me a ticket for driving without the proper lights (the pattern) :explode: Quote:
|
So the jury is out..that does it for me.. I'm not buying from umnitza...ever...

im sorry to hear about your bad experience, simoncpw. it is truely amazing how they try and get away with this. I am not surprised your having water problems with the headlight; in fact, any problem would not surprise me. they are just so cheap its unbelievable. I hope you are able to resolve your issue :-\. I just dropped mine off at USPS today. Their shipping label didn't even cover the correct amount!! But the lady said I didn't have to worry about the difference she would bill it to them :D . Once again..good luck to you. If I were you I would not exchange, but return for a full refund. Their housings lack any quality.
And richirich I had a question for you about customangeleyes. I've been looking at them since yesterday (members pictures, their website) trying to decide whether they are worth the price or not. i need a new housing i guess since the glass on mine is faded/heavily chipped (cannot find anywhere that just sells a new cover). so are they realy worth over 1300? And as for the quality of the housing, would you say they are well built (solid, high quality, doesn't leak). And final question, will they work with the factory auto leveling xenon system? sorry for all the questions..and thanks in advance :D |
mtx5..they're actual OEM headlights...Highest quality available period. What they do is they take a pair of OEM ones and recondition them (with the obvious mods, AE's, clear lens, etc) and then ship them to you to match your specific needs. If you got the $$, its the highest quality you'll ever recieve.. Without question.. I'm sure rich will chime in here soon and agree..
|
interesting.. because i just got off the phone with dave from angelibright and he sounded like they might sometimes use Depo housings. I'm waiting for him to send me more information via email/get back to me. but thanks primetime for the info! I just want to be 200% sure before I make another purchase. Don't want to deal with another experience such as this one

Funny ...spoke to dave about an hour ago...I am actually meeting up with him to pick up some goods. I am going to pm you some info...lets chat! RR |
sounds good

Here is another option....check out my thread:

First - I apologize to both the OP and Simon for the trouble you've had. I assure you there is nothing that I want more than to have you fixed up and quickly. This included me sending a return label to the OP (even though they didn't purchase from me) and agreeing to take back Simon's headlights and pay for his return shipping.

We resell many products at slightly over eBay prices because we offer immediate service, support, and responses. We also significantly modify many headlights to reflect the tastes of our customers. I've highlighted "CUSTOM" because our prices reflect the custom nature of these products as we add our own flare to them. At this time, no other company offers an E53 headlight with higher powered angel eyes and pre-configured for HID that is great quality and doesn't leak. ----- To finish: OP - the new lights may be in our hands as early as Friday Simon - ditto to the above - those lights will be in our hands shortly. I hope you received my email this morning and we can clear the issue regarding some things privately. We will - if things go well - be using this new light moving forward so that we have no future issues whatsoever. |

We offer high output angel eyes just like those two, but we take it to the next level and offer replacements. "Fixing" up an OE headlight anyone can do. If you want us to get you an OE headlight and install angel eyes into it, no problem. But OE headlights leak. It's not a question of if, it's when. |
Edit: 20 days after my post below, I have posted further information on my "Umnitza Projector53" story here.

In fact it was because I was quite happy with their quick responses and support (both on email and phone), I subsequently ordered the LED Taillights and HID fogs from them. The LED Tailights had no issues at all, works great and looks great. The HID fogs had the wrong bulb (H3 vs H11). But I later confirmed that it was neither umnitza nor my fault. BMW's manual was misleading. And umnita is willing to send me the replacement as well together with the lights. Yes, I am pretty upset by the headlights, but I am also pretty happy with my other purchase with umnitza as well. Once this headlights issue is fixed, I'll be a happy customer again! |
Hi mtx5,
Any update for your P53? |
Simon, I'm working with 2 suppliers, one local to you and one local to me.
I'll let you know, the one local to me is a disaster, they are claiming that suddenly the DOT is all over them and won't let them distribute, while the one closest to you has not replied but will tonight. Rest assured I will not rest until this is completed. |
I just looked at the ones richirich posted a link to, The halos don't seem to fit properly, at least not the low beam. Looks like the smaller ring in the bigger hole. which kinda makes it look like they got a lazy eye to me.... anyone else think so? And the design of the clear corner looks kinda "honda" cheap to me also.
http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture1-6.png http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture2-3.png Sorry richirich, just stating what appears obvious to me... Unfortunately I don't even have aftermarket options anyways due to the fact that NO-ONE makes headlights for X5's with factory HID! Seems like they're missing 1/2 the market for people that want updated style/looks but have the better OEM optioned headlights... but they would have to be expensive as hell anyways to be plug and play with our HID electronics. |
simoncpw, I haven't heard back yet supposed to be getting a credit in the next few days.. we'll see. But I am definately going to give it ONE more try but not with umnitza. im going to go with customangeleyes/angelibright.
and weasel 56, i agree with you about the highbeam eyes that dont fit correctly. that is why i didnt consider customangeleyes/angelibright. But for the new model (their site is outdated) the halo goes all the way around and it looks great! ask richirich for more details ( he has em ). they are also supposed to be alot brighter. also, my x5 also has factory HID. its not that you cant get their headlight, you just cant use ur HID kit. you will just have to spend 130 more to get a new hid kit put into the headlights (you lose the auto leveling system :( .. ) . but i thought about it, and if i get amazing looking angel eyes and pay a little more to re-get an HID kit (pointless i know) its kinda worth it. especially if your factory headlights are chipped and showing age like mine/outdated. also i was guaranteed the lights were not cheap, would not leak, etc. and if anything was wrong they would be repaired or a new set would be shipped promptly. i will definately let you guys know and post pics. just need that credit back so i can put in the order for the other lights! |
Good luck with your angel eyes. I betcha that Custom Angel Eyes uses the same "angel eyes" as European Auto Source....
Again, check out my thread with pics so you can see what you most likely will get with Dave's kit. There are not too many companies that make CCFL rings that fit properly for the E53 X5....RDash is the OEM manufacture for the E53 X5 CCFL rings. http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...ght=check+eyes Quote:
|
ya they probably do.. they look good though! thanks for the pictures. but i need a whole new headlight assembly since mine show alot of age.. so im hoping Custom Angel Eyes are the right choice.
|
Good luck with Dave's setup. Once you get it done, definitely post pics of the results!!;)

Hey mtX5,
Just wondering if your issue with Umnitza has bee resolved? Mine is still stuck and isn't going anywhere. :angryfire Have you decided to go with the Custom Angel Eyes solution? |
Wow I just clicked your link and from your pictures they look terrible. Man am I glad I didnt keep those "p53s".
My issue is resolved after about 3-4 weeks. Like I said, I ordered through Modbargains, and I think thats what ensured my refund. If I ordered directly through Umnitza I might be in the same position as you :-\ . The thing is they even gave Modbargains a hard time thats why it took so long. I still cannot believe how Umnitza treats their customers, other businesses, and how crappy their products are! I really hope you resolve your issue soon. Why don't you dispute the charge on your credit card? Or get some legal action taken. As for your question about Custom Angel Eyes, yes I have chose to go with them. Richirich told me all about them, and posted pictures in a recent thread. I was amazed. I also called David at Custom Angel Eyes and there was definately a big difference in service you can notice from just one call. They should be coming in by the end of this week or beginning of next. I recommend you go with them too after you deal with your umnitza issue. I will post pics when I get them. Once again, goodluck with your issue, and try to solve it!! Go through your credit card company, or seriously take some legal action. You can't be driving around like that! Goodluck.. |
