FRONT DOOR WONT OPEN IN AND OUTSIDE
 

X5 2000 4.4i Gave someone a lift. She pulled the lever before I had unlocked the car. I used central locking to unlock it but although it activated, the door wouldn't open. I got out of the car to open from the outside, to find the
passenger had leaned over and was pulling the handle from the outside.
The lever outside has no tension and the door won't open from the inside or outside. How can I get the door opened?

are you able to open it from inside?

Thanks for responding. No, it cannot be opened from the inside. Imported from dealer. I have complete history.

Did you import your X from a private seller or a dealer? Do you have a history on it or anything?

Wow. This is quite a pickle. You'd have to remove the inside door panel to address whatever come undone but with the door stuck closed, that will be a difficult task. You might be able to open up the top part of the panel and pry it back enough to reach in and manipulate the mechanism to open the door. I don't know what to manipulate but I assume there is some way.

It could be related to the problem I and other have had. See this link. It's not the same symptoms but as I stated, it might be related.

Thanks. I'll look at the link, keep on trying and let you know. My dad suggested using a magnet between the window frame. Do you think that might work?

Did this happen to anyone? it just happened to me - it's very cold here in NY. my passenger door won't open from the inside and from outside. can't open door so going to be hard to remove door panel. I guess I can partially remove it.

my passenger door is frozen shut and im not touching the handle because im scared of breaking it so no idea what to do as of now

there is tons of info on this problem. my drivers door is also stuck. ordered a carrier assy from ebay. will post when it arrives and how the install went.
