got in a small accident yesterday

partially my fault but more the other persons, i had my signal on to parallel park in a spot and put my car into reverse there was a lady behind me in my blind spot who SHOULD have beeped once i started going in reverse however didnt, resulted in a minorly banged up bumper and a dented exhaust tip, how much to fix approx? we didnt exchange insurance info and all she was just like its fine i was pushing to exchange it but she didnt feel we had to so i let it go because i dont want higher insurance.

Paul look on the right side, at least you weren't hurt...call Armand at VACMotorsports in South Philly they just resprayed my rear bumper and lower valence and did an awesome job.

Same happened to me a few months back

Plan on bumper replacement, paint, etc. to be 1200 or so. One exhaust is 500 bucks I thought, maybe more like 700. Problem is, you then have one new exhaust and one old. Try to bend back the exhaust tip before replacing or have insurance company give you a credit for the damage, especially if it is the fault of other driver. Good luck.

Partly your fault? More like 100% your fault.

No, I was rear-ended on highway

I had to stop quickly and the Bonneville trailing me was not able to stop quite as quickly as the X5. The guy's insurance covered the damage.

I put my turn signal about 15 feet before the spot and slowly came to a stop put my reverse lights on and checked my mirrors, there were no other cars on the st and i waited atleast 10 sec before i started backing up.....

Your car was moving and she was not, you were under control, you are responsible for whatever you hit - whether moving forward or backward - even if it is in your blind spot. Sorry.

pski215 11-16-2008 08:52 PM

she was moving when she hit me! she was going forward and i was going backward..... therefore her front fender hit my back fender which would mean she rear ended me regardless of if i was going backwards or not.

My take is neither one of you knew who was responsible for what, hence the no cops/no insurance.

Back to the OT, if you get some pics up we could all give you a better idea of what you're looking at.
