I got the same problem on the LHS mirror. It will fold back but will not stay folded back. Dealer said it was a buggered/broken micro switch and require the whole mirror to be replaced. :dunno: If it is not buggered, you may be able to do a bit of adjustment and it will be good. Push the mirror manually back a bit and it will become wobbly but press the button to fold the mirror and open back again, it will stay firm.

For the wobble, what often times happens is if the outside electric folding mirrors are folded in and out by hand (and not the button) which commonly happens when going to a parking garage and leaving it with an attendant, slack develops between the mirror housing and its base. That in turn leads to vibration of the mirror when you are driving the car

What you can do to eliminate the slack is to fold the outside mirror all the way forward by hand, then press the switch (that normally folds/unfolds them). The system will react as though it is trying to fold the already folded mirrors. It will start an initializing routine which you can identify by the loud clicking noise that will take place. After it completes the routine (a few seconds) the slack will have been taken up by the mechanism and the problem should be resolved. If it doesn't improve, then run it again.

I had the same problem..i hassled my service guy forever to get him to just replace it under CPO. It worked after much arguing haha

Holy Thread Resurrection Batman!

I have had this problem for ages and finally looked at it whilst sorting out some other problems today. The Passenger Mirror was flapping in the wind and had a major wobble. The method listed above of moving to a closed position and then pressing the folding switch did the clicking but the mirror just stayed in the same position. The only fix for me was to cut some main cable and wedge two pieces down between the mirror and the mirror housing bracket and the mirror is now steady as a rock. Not an elegant fix but I don't use the folding mirrors so I'm just glad to have a stready mirror.

Resurrected again! Any more opinions on how to fix this problem?

I can agree with the above! I had the same problem, turns out BOTH my mirrors had a broken outer housing, (the part where it connects to the base via a cast pin.) mine pushed the pot metal apart, and for kicks I put it in a vice to try push it back in..... FAIL! it broke, fortunately I had the replacements on hand! and now they work perfectly :) complimentary modification= LED puddle lights :)
