I have the same issue. I thought I could tighten the screws at the bottom of the mirror and they weren't even loose. I'll be waiting to see how I can get rid of this problem too:popcorn:

Bah! Replace the whole mirror? My wife's is loose too. I popped the trim piece off the bottom and tried to tighten the torx bits to no avail.

I was going to take a closer look tomorrow.

Same issue here, any solutions?

Well on our X5 it was the torx bits on the bottom of the mirror after all. I was using the wrong size bit the last time. It's snugged right up now. I believe they were T10 size torx bits.

Hope this helps,

On mine it grinds and slips also when opening or closing almost like the gears to move the mirror are stripped

Just got the same problem on my 05 X5. Tighten it with a Torque? It's not covered by the extended warranty, is it?
