Problem with the Gas Milage....after battery died

I have a 02 X5 3.0i. i was getting about 15.9mpg on the city. Then I left one of the interrior light and drained my battery completely. Since then, I get about 11.5mpg. Any ideas why this is? Is is possible to hange the computer programs the fuel system uses? thanks in advance.

does anyone know what may cause this?

I'm guessing the computer just reset and the 11.5 mpg is your mpg from that time forward. The 15 mpg was the total driving history. :dunno:

Same thing happened to me when I was installing my Angel Eyes, left the key on and battery died. My mpg dropped from 15.2 to 14.2.

As seemyX5go stated, it probably reset the reading, which is an average. It probably had alot more highway miles on it from in the last average.

That makes sense. Thanks everybody.....I liked seeing 15mpg and was hoping to get that out of a 3.0i engine.
