I'm guessing the computer just reset and the 11.5 mpg is your mpg from that time forward.The 15 mpg was the total driving history.

Same thing happened to me when I was installing my Angel Eyes, left the key on and battery died. My mpg dropped from 15.2 to 14.2.

As seemyX5go stated, it probably reset the reading, which is an average. It probably had alot more highway miles on it from in the last average.
