And the first 7 numbers in the first pic X Foomph posted are the BMW part#s. The numbers I posted are supposed to be of the style 132's, but there are more than one set of numbers available (superceded part #s)

Defective wheel? Come on now, aluminum wheels crack. Fact of life. Steel wheels bend. If you like shiny lower unsprung weight aluminum wheels, then it's part of the game. If you find this unacceptable, switch to some steelies - you will be hard pressed to crack them.

If you bank an aluminum wheel into a curb or some other solid object, there is a chance you will crack the wheel. I cracked two OEM corvette wheels curbing them when I was not used to the lack of sidewall and width of 275/35R18s on my firebird. Ooops.

Aluminum cracks and bends. You think they'd be able to make ones that don't bend anymore.

The dealer is going to look at it. If it is determined to be defective, they will probably replace it - but who can say. If not, then I gotta find one to buy.

I recently bought a set of oem 132's and took some internal pics of each spoke just after I cleaned them, thinking that it may come in handy one day. My numbers & stampings don't stack up with what weasel stated and that maybe a euro delivery thing given that I'm in Oz. But apart from what weasel has quoted and from what I've read here all bmw oem rims will have a BMW stamp and not a BWM as some reps will have. Fore warned is fore armed, make sure you don't get shafted.

Hope these pics help in identifying an oem rim.

Interested to see a pic of the rim crack and final outcome of this unfortunate event. Good luck

Thanks for the pics... If I get a chance I will photo and post.

I had a crack on my HRE547 once, I had a shop weld it!

its possible to have a defective wheel..

lo_jack 12-31-2008 11:22 AM

I would love to hear what constitutes a 'defective wheel.' Hopefully he will post up what the dealer says.

blktoptrvl 12-31-2008 07:03 PM

Curious...

A defective wheel - like anything other defective product - would be anything that is not manufactured within critical parameters.

Or a product for which the engineering specifications do not meet the real world requirements.

There is no such thing as a product line made with 100% non-defect record.

Why do you believe there can be no defects?
