No, I want to try LI-X5s way ... he used some replacement bulbs that effectively turn off the DRLs and without error codes.
I'm waiting on those and the Angelibrights. Should get the anti-flicker/anti-error for the HIDs Wednesday. I want to resolve all my lighting probs/projects at once since I'm going to take the front bumper off again. Update you when anything changes. ;) |

And jose and rich, how do bulbs turn off the DRLs? Never heard of those.. where are you getting them from? also, a little off topic, but i know you and jose got the X-pipe done. I am thinking of getting an X-pipe for now since its cheaper than an exhaust system (which i might get later). what size pipe do i need for the e53 3.0i? 2.25''? and what brand is best? and most importantly, will it have any effect on emission testing? |

We're not exactly sure how they work - that's why we're curious. According to LI-X5, it's a simple bulb replacement for the DRL. When the DRLs are supposed to be on, these bulbs don't light up. However, when you push on the light stalk to flash they will work then. X-Pipe for all Xs I think can use 2.25" (which is what me and Rich went with). Do a search to confirm but I'm pretty sure the X model won't matter for the 2.25". As far as brand, I went with Magnaflow because I didn't want to re-invent the wheel since that's what most people seemed to use. I doubt there's any significant performance or quality difference between the brands of x-pipes. |

Also, where is the best place to get the X-pipe. I think you said you got it off eBay? And do you know if it'll cause any problems with emissions? |

The place I bought don't have them anymore but I bought mine for $77 shipping included. Here's an ebay link - just place a best offer (that's what I did): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Magna...Q5fAccessories As I understand it, resonators are used for sound/audio tuning of the exhaust system. So, I wouldn't think removing/replacing it would cause any emissions problem. |
I want a whiter highbeam light.. but ya i got a similar high quote in the 100s as well, but since I've been servicing my vehicles at bmw of fairfax for over 6 years, the advisor helps me out every now and then.
Also, do you think a shop like midas can custom make an x pipe just as well? (now we are waaay off topic  ) |
Moh and Jose - trying to knock out both answers in one reply...
Yes....like Jose said...2.2"magnaflow xpipe...I pretty much did what zerochief and Jose did and a bunch of others. Moh - yeah man LIX5 said these bulbs work ....Jose - I have a preface lift ...so I went with the 9005's........you would be h1's... I have a bad gut feeling that yours are going to work like LIx5 but mine becaue they are older and 9005's may not work...if that is the case I will have cool blue bulbs....then my thought was - would the blue bulb at 50% power if the solution does not work like we want it to....would it still give of a yellow brown shit color..or possibly a blue color?? Lets just hope that it works..they should be arriving in an hour... Moh - I am still confused on these bulbs I just hope they work... ok as for the clear signal bulbs..i went to bimmian .com and order reverse bulbs because they have the same pin type. They work...but do not flash as bright as your orange ones will... when taking a turn...they do work fine though.....the very bottom one... so there is a sacrafice.....they look great but just do not illuminate as bright..i was freaked at firdst being the anal wierdo that I am..but I am cool with it now because it fits the headlight and fog light scheme perfectly!
