if price is the only consideration, yet you want top performance, get a used set of Michelins off craigslist. there are many available, and you can probably get rims for a winter set at the same price.
also be aware, BF goodrich and uniroyal are owned by Michelin, so you will get their outstanding technology at a cheaper price by sticking with their brands. our BF goodrich long trails have lasted over 68,000 miles (with 4 to 5/32nds left) and our OEM Michelins just won't wear out. I attribute much of this to regular air pressure check and tire rotations. none of the cheaper brands will last this long. as my father-in-law says, "I ain't rich enough to buy the cheap stuff..." |
