Don't remember the exact total for 2008, but here's what I'm looking at for just this week:
1) Inspection II 60,000 mile service: $765 :yikes: 2) Front and rear brake pads and sensors: $680 :yikes: 3) Two ripped power steering hoses (steel-reinforced) + labor: $580 :yikes: :yikes: 4) Two cracked thrust rod bushings and labor: $410 :yikes: :yikes: 5) The nagging suspicion that somehow, some way, the stealer is ripping you a new a$$hole: Priceless... |

Those are some hefty costs. Even if an independent garage cost less than dealer, that is significant!
I just got the (pre-owned) X5 and that is my biggest concern. I can do a lot of maintenance myself (and I'm starting at 35k miles) but if my repair costs got to 2-3k every year, I'd probably move on. |

£3000 tyres (brought some of ebay, used but nearly new!) cv joints oil change and filters piston ring tubro repair (something with the air intake) and some other minor things.... was in the shop for about 2 and a bit months! (it was an indy guy, they didnt work on it everyday, which is why it took so long)... |
