Make sure you get the full synthetic 5w -30..

Don't know what vehicle you have but I found this on page
144 of the 2004 manual. http://www.bmwmotorsports.org/pdf/BM...20-%202004.pdf |
Probably late to this most amazing thread wonderment,
but any quality name brand synthetic will do fine. 5W30 seems to be the oil of choice but a good 0W-40 is my pref. |

I found that the BMW castrol (sold at the dealer) was cheaper then other brands (Mobil and etc) at the local auto shop (checkers and etc). The parts guy said that BMW is trying to keep their price lower/same as the local auto shop. |
Does anyone add fully synthetic lukas oil treatment by any chance? Considering these trucks eat a a quart every 3-4 months or so?

Whether it is Lucas, lukas, or another, it is a bad idea. Oil additives are specifically not recommended (see your manual). I always enjoyed the article about additives on the website Bob is the Oil Guy. I hadn't remembered that they actually tested Lucas, but they did. See the link, and see how disastrous it can be to put this in your engine. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/images/lucas/lucas.htm |
