Has anybody done the OEM Ipod Interface?
Im thinking about doing this on my 06 4.4. Ive never done anything like this myself, but my local BMW dealershop wants $185 plus tax for the part, plus $349 for installation. Too much
Any inputs would be appreciated. |
go with DICE, its cheaper and easy to install.

There are mixed reviews regarding Dice. Thats why I want to go with OEM. I just want to do it myself if it is not too complicated.

i looked, but ended up going with an OEM aux adapter - I really wanted to use the pandora radio option on my iphone, and it's the cheapest route. I will get a rubber-case for my phone, and set it on top of the cup holder compartment cover. i really dont' like the dash mounts

Oh, auxiliar adapter and the interface are two different things, right?

I use the DICE, works fine and a holder that is on a gooseneck that plugs into the lighter. Not powered but very convenient, gets it's power from the DICE

Personally I think the DICE is a much better solution than the OEM unit. If you have nav then also look into the Intravee-II. All can be installed on your own pretty easily.

aux adapter is where it connect with a simple stereo plug. you can hook up anybody's audio player, portable dvd, etc.... you cannot control the audio source from the vehicle Dice uses a special hookup to control your ipod/iphone. However, you cannot use some of the other possible functions like the Pandora Radio. |
Intravee II - most control options
Dice - fewer controls OEM - even less (and probably no text support, but I could be wrong :( ) Do a search here on x5world. There are many threads. |
