10.5" wide rims...
 

Hi all,

Will 10.5" wide 22s be too wide for the front of an '01 E53? I'm affraid I don't know the offset. I'm guessing I may loose some of my turning circle(?)

well, 10,5'' is just an inch wider than the OEM front wheels of an 4,6is.

If you have the arch extensions of the ''is'' and provided that the Offset is the same as the OEM wheels they will only build 1/2 inch extra inwards and outwards.

The main factor here is your offset and tiresize.......

I know that your rears are 11" wide aren't they?
How wide are your fronts?

I think these maybe either a 30 or 40 offset (I'm waiting for the guy to get back to me as I type this).

Do you think a 285 would be too narrow for a 10.5 rim?

my fronts are 9,5......

285 will work on a 10,5'' wheel, but I have no idea if it will work on your car..... :popcorn:

Right, sorry my mistake.........the wheels are all 10x22 (not 10.5) with a 45 offset. Does anyone know if they will fit ok and what tyre sizes I'd be best going for?

Any help on this would be really appreciated!
Also with them only being a 45 offset, am i going to need spacers?

the original wheels have an ofset around 25 (if I recall right).

If so, the wheels will be about 20mm further in (+ half of the extra with, which is about 6mm) for the fronts.... so a 20 - 30mm spacer would be needed.

at the rear you would need an even bigger spacer if you want the infamous staggered look.........

Yeah, I was thinking 45 was too low of an offset, but there are soo many rims advertised as being for the X5 that have the same ET45, its nuts. Thats why i think half the time, the sellers are only saying they fit because they have PCD OF 5x120.

I'm not necessarily aiming for the staggared look if I'm honest. A friend of mine has a 3.0 diesel sport with 22s on that are the same all the way round. The added bonus of this is that you can rotate the wheels around to keep the tyre-wear even, etc. Although staggared look does look great!

but you are better off checking to be 100% sure what the original ET (offset) is.

Actually, I did the effort to check for you:

Front ET is 45mm

Rear ET is 30mm

Which means:

At the front you will be fine.

At the rear you will need at least 30mm spacers to look ok.... Unless you fancy the ''caravan look'':D

Really old post, but I am considering 10.5 22" with a ET:45 will this work on my 2005 4.4i? Are the 4.8is offsets the same as the 4.4i?
